FRANCES MARION (ca. 1928) Portrait

$350.00

Los Angeles, CA [ca. 1925]. Vintage original 7 x 9 1/2″ (17 x 22 cm.) single weight borderless glossy silver gelatin photo. Shows slight corner wear, there are neat later pencil notes about her work on the verso and the ink stamp of Producers Distribution Corporation. About fine.

Frances Marion is perhaps the most prolific of screenwriters and definitely one of the finest. She was given great leeway and even respect during a time in film history dominated by male writers.

Credited and uncredited, she worked on hundreds of films, prominently during the 1920s. The first female writer to win an Academy Award, she would do so for 1930’s THE BIG HOUSE and 1931’s THE CHAMP.
