Vintage original 10 x 8" (25 x 20 cm.) black-and-white single weight glossy silver gelatin print still photo, USA. Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, John Ridgely, Martha Vickers, Dorothy Malone, dir: Howard Hawks, Warner Brothers.

Michigan-born model turned film actress Martha Vickers got her big break in this noir classic. She had been playing uncredited hostess-type roles for nearly three years at various studios. At age 20 she won the role of Lauren Bacall's thumb-sucking nymphet teen sister. This led to a string of "bad girl" roles. Her romantic life was abundant and she even became one of Mickey Rooney's eight wives....

DIANA DORS / PICTUREGOER (ca. 1955) $300.00

Vintage original 19; x 29" (50 x 75 cm.) poster, UK. During 1955 and 1956, Diana Dors wrote a series of articles for her native UK movie magazine Picturegoer. In them, she talked about her work in British films and her trip to Hollywood to make American films. Usually the covers for this magazine were in duotone, making this full-color promotional poster advertising Diana and her stories unique. The film was released at Christmas 1936, and she became an iconic film figure wearing her sarong (supposedly designed by uncredited Edith Head).

When she learns of this she gets ideas, but his adult son is onto her. This B film was one of the first to openly portray nymphomania. Mary Lou Waverley (played with cold calculation by Kathy Marlowe) runs the gamut from manipulated sweetness and innocence to man-eater who...

Though Marilyn Monroe sported jeans through much of this vigorous Western, the guitar-singing Kay Weston was a saloon singer and more used to saloon costuming as Marilyn displays in still 895-NOD-17. Travilla designed her costume. Neither she nor director Preminger wanted to do the film, but the teaming of Monroe and Mitchum, the Rockie Mountain setting, Western theme and Cinemascope made it big box office.

Light diagonal crease near the top...

Monroe and Mitchum had known each other years before they became film stars, as Mitchum had worked with Monroe's first husband James Dougherty at Lockhead Aircraft in the early/mid-1940s. Both Preminger and Monroe did...
