GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES (1953) Screenplay by Charles Lederer

Sold

Vintage original writer’s working script for the 1953 film, USA. A key working script from Howard Hawks’ classic musical GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES, adapted by Charles Lederer and based on both the 1949 Broadway musical and the original non-musical 1928 novel and screenplay by Anita Loos. A definitive take on a classic story, pulling together the best aspects of the two earlier versions, and famously pairing Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell. Russell was then at the peak of her career; Monroe was just at the point of transitioning to the highest level of stardom.

Pale blue studio wrappers, noted as copy no. 499 and rubber-stamped production no. 2535, rubber stamped “Writer’s Working Script”. 141 leaves on yellow stock. FINE in NEAR FINE wrappers, studio mimeo, brad-bound.
