Al Jolson, Sybil Jason, Beverly Roberts, dir: William Keighley, Busby Berkeley; Warner Brothers. Al Jolson in his iconic black face set against an image of Al Jolson in his iconic blackface. A unique image is SK-87.

Though Jolson performed his trademark style material, the film (with songs by Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg) actually foreshadowed much of their The Wizard of Oz-style in that rhythm, song and rhyme were combined in lengthy sequences to tell the story.

Effete William Canfield goes to meet his cantankerous father (who left him as a child) to assist him in running his riverboat. He ends up saving everyone when a fierce storm hits. A Buster Keaton production, it gave him ample opportunity to stage many wonderful physical gags. Buster performed what many would consider insane stunts.
