Loretta Young made the transition — in nearly all genres of film for more than four decades– in acting style and in styles of drama and comedy. She excelled as the woman in danger in the noir genre. She was more than effective as a psychology professor who murders in self-defense during an attempted rape (in this film, the crime committed is presented as justified from the first scene). Young was brilliant at creating the tension the story needed. Some of those tense scenes are present in this selection of photos. Grant, pp. 15-16. Silver, Ward, Ursini, Porfirio, p. 23-24.

Amongst Loretta’s co-stars present are Robert Cummings, Douglas Dick, Wendell Corey and Sam Jaffe.
