Mary Astor is seen in her prime in this lovely portrait taken by Samuel Goldwyn portrait photographer Kenneth Alexander. Astor was involved in a high profile scandalous child custody lawsuit at the time and under great stress. She poured her energy into making her character of Edith Cortright in Dodsworth one of the finest performances on film.
