Sold

Vintage original 7 ¼  x 9 ¼  black and white single weight glossy silver gelatin print still photo, USA. Bette Davis, George Brent, Humphrey Bogart, Geraldine Fitzgerald, Ronald Reagan, dir: Edmund Goulding; Warner Brothers. This special studio photograph with original attached paper blurb is #14 in a series which told the film’s storyline for publicity and magazine publication. Bette Davis is pictured playing Judith Traherne with Humphrey Bogart as Michael, her horse trainer. Davis was Warner Brother’s major star actress, but Bogart, who had toiled for years on stage and for 9 years in films (including supporting Davis in 5 previous films) would not achieve leading film stardom for another two years. Davis would receive her fourth Academy Award nomination for Best Actress for this portrayal, based on the play by George Emerson Brewer Jr. and Bertram Bloch. There is an emulsion scratch to the left of the back of Bogart’s head and two long scratches above Bette Davis head. ABOUT FINE.
