Vintage original script, 109 leaves, 4to, carbon typescript, typed on rectos only of onionskin marked in red: "Contract Copy." Punched for brad binding in typescript wrappers (brads not present). Some creasing and small tears to some margins, small chip to upper wrapper at top edge, otherwise very good.

Vintage original 22 x 28" (55 x 71 cm.) half sheet style A, USA. John Payne, Evelyn Keyes, Brad Dexter, Frank Faylen, Peggie Castle, dir: Phil Karlson; United Artists. Effective noir crime melodrama about a former boxing champ who loses his title and ends up driving a taxi for a living, who ends up being blamed for the murder of his henpecking wife. The film was very effectively directed by Phil Karlson who got unflinching portrayals from the cast, particularly John Payne and with his depiction of the big city as both Heaven and Hell. Folded, VERY GOOD.

Bruce Humberstone: 20th Century Fox. In this Chan mystery, a dangerous amnesiac escapes an asylum and hides within an opera company, where he is suspected of getting revenge on those who attempted to murder him. Is this dangerous fugitive responsible for the murders? Charlie and son are brought in to find out.

Part horror/part mystery, with touches of humor, this is likely the best remembered of the Chan films....

Boldy SIGNED by actors Faye Dunaway and Diane Ladd, and screenwriter Robert Towne, on the title page in holograph ink. Brief notations in holograph ink on a few pages. An impeccable set of signatures on a remarkably scarce script, one of only two we've handled.

Vintage original 11 x 14" (28 x 35 cm.) lobby card, USA. Basil Rathbone, Nigel Bruce, Marjorie Riordan, Rosaling Ivan, Morton Lowry, dir: Roy William Neil; Universal. In this Sherlock Holmes mystery, Holmes and Watson are hired to escort an heir to a royal throne, whose father has just been assassinated aboard a ship full of assassins plotting against the heir. Filmed on Little Europe Street at Universal's backlot, the script included a number of references to mysteries in Sir Conan Doyle's books. It was the twelfth of the 14 Sherlock Holmes films.

The very first Sherlock Holmes film to be produced with sound, and in which the immortal line "Elementary, my dear Watson," was uttered on-screen (though it does not appear in the writings of Arthur Canon Doyle).

Made at the Paramount Kaufman Astoria Studios in New York and employing actors of the theatre, this early Holmes effort is an antique curiosity today, full of gadgets and gizmos...
