BONJOUR TRISTESSE (1958) Photo ft. Deborah Kerr, Jean Seberg
Vintage original 10 x 8″ (25 x 20 cm.) black-and-white single weight glossy silver gelatin print still photo, USA. Deborah Kerr, David Niven, Jean Seberg, Mylene Demongeot, Geoffrey Horne, Juliette Greco, dir: Otto Preminger; Columbia.
A wonderful character study with the luminescent Jean Seberg playing a 17 year-old girl with a rich playboy father who is about to marry a woman from his past and her displeasure with that. The original novel was by 17 year-old Françoise Sagan and with superb acting and Preminger’s creative handling (told much in color flashback scenes, with present day scenes in black-and-white), made this oft-told story unique.
In still BT-82-9A, Deborah Kerr as Anne assists the discontent Jean Seberg as Cecile in lighting a cigarette. The photo has the original attached paper publicity blurb on the verso as well as the Columbia Pictures Studio copyright stamp. No photographer is indicated. Very minor handling, FINE.
