IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE (1946) Vintage original 11 x 14” (28 x 35 cm.) title lobby card (card #1), USA James Stewart, Donna Reed, Lionel Barrymore, Thomas Mitchell, Henry Travers, Beulah Bondi, Ward Bond, Frank Faylen, Gloria Grahame; dir: Frank Capra; Liberty Films/RKO. The perennial film classic, one of the best known and best loved films of all time. The title card plays up the romantic nature of the story. The Academy was keen enough to nominate the artistry of the film, James Stewart, Capra , the picture, sound and editing. It only won one special award however, that for the creation of a new “soundproof” snow (made of foamite, soap and water). Prior to this they had been made of cornflakes painted white and made so much noise that any dialogue recorded on the set would have to be post production dubbed. The card is clean and unrestored, minor handling at corners and edges as well as minor soiling to blank white margins. ABOUT FINE
