AVA GARDNER EARLY GLAMOUR PIN-UP (1943) Photo

Sold

[Los Angeles]: Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, [1943]. Vintage original 8 x 10″ (20 x 25 cm.) black-and-white single weight glossy silver gelatin photo. Near fine.

An incredible image from Ava Gardner‘s first days in Hollywood, a stunning World War II-era pin-up. Original typed blurb on verso describes her as a dream girl from Dixie. Posing in a short negligee by MGM costume designer Irene, Ava’s early days at MGM, newly arrived from North Carolina, were spent learning how to talk, walk and deport herself. MGM made great use of her in the portrait photography department, and she was about to embark upon a small part in Two Girls and a Sailor.
