MARX BROTHERS | A NIGHT AT THE OPERA (1935) Publicity photo
Sold
[Los Angeles: Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, 1935]. Vintage original 8 x 10″ (20 x 25 cm.) black-and-white glossy silver gelatin print photo. Crease at bottom left corner, near fine.
The three Marx Brothers (Harpo, Chico and Groucho) appear to be up to their zany antics even when posing for a publicity photo for their first MGM film. Executive Irving Thalberg was a big fan of the brothers and brought them to MGM to make this zany satire on the world of opera. Fourth brother Zeppo, who always played the straight man, went off to open his theatrical agency and singing star Alan Jones filled his role.
Photo is coded MC-42522.
