The four acting winners for 1942’s Academy Awards are shown together in front of the radio mics after winning their awards at the semi-formal event. At this time, the Best Actor and Actress, James Cagney (for Yankee Doodle Dandy) and Greer Garson (for Mrs. Miniver), were awarded statues, while supporting actors Van Heflin (for Johnny Eager) and Theresa Wright (for Mrs. Miniver) were presented with the plaque versions. Though the Academy had their official photographers, the studios — which basically ran and determined the winners at the time — were allowed to have their own images, too.
