JACK SMITH | THE TRAP DOOR (1980) Photo

$750.00

[New York: B Movies], 1980. Vintage original 8 x 10″ (20 x 25 cm.) black-and-white print still photo. Date stamped with a small clipping affixed to verso, also a holograph notation on back. Some waviness throughout, very good.

The notation indicates: “Jack Smith as Dr. Shrinkelstein tries hypnosis on John Ahearn’s naïve Jeremy Jones in Beth B and Scott B‘s THE TRAP DOOR Weekends at the Bleecker [Street Cinema]…”

The Trap Door was Beth and Scott B’s final feature film, a wild kind of Nietzchean parable and an emblematic example of downtown Manhattan punk cinema. Smith appeared in various underground films made by other filmmakers. Except for one film released two years after his death, this was his final film appearance. Photos showing Smith are very uncommon.
