Robert Siodmak (director) THE FILE ON THELMA JORDON (1949) Set of 11 photos

$550.00

[Los Angeles]: Paramount Pictures, 1949. Set of eleven (11) vintage original 8 x 10″ (20 x 25 cm.) black-and-white glossy silver gelatin photos. All have printed credits information at the bottom white margins. Seven have a snipe blurb over the title area to cover a misspelling made in the original printing. Two have lost the snipe and the misspelling can be seen. Two have a different credits presentation but all have the 1949 copyright date stamp. Minor wear overall with a few creased corners and normal usage, about fine.

Truly an independent film actress in the late-1940s, Barbara Stanwyck had the power to choose her roles — and she did so by moving from Warner Brothers to MGM to Paramount to RKO with her choice of prime roles. Many of these characters were those in the popular realm of the time now called film noir. As warm and funny as she could be in comedy and romance, she equaled in coldness and seriousness here. As a woman accused of murdering her aunt, she manipulates the prosecuting attorney who becomes obsessed with her. Silver, Ward, Ursini, Porfirio, p. 111: Grant, p. 235.

In this group of photos with Barbara are co-stars Wendell Corey, Paul Kelly, Joan Tetzel and Stanley Ridges.
