CANARY MURDER CASE, THE (1929) Oversized promotional flyer

$750.00

[Los Angeles]: Paramount Pictures, [1929]. Vintage original 16 x 10 1/4″ (41 x 26 cm.) promotional flyer. Folded (as issued) with one tiny tear (mended with archival paper), near fine.

Louise Brooks shows up in three separate portraits in this scarce oversized flyer for Paramount’s 1929 pre-Code crime-mystery adaptation of S.S. Van Dine’s The Canary Murder Case. The movie was originally shot as a silent film. Brooks was in Berlin working with G.W. Pabst on Pandora’s Box when Paramount cabled her, asking her to return to Hollywood to record sound for her scenes. She refused, causing her to be subsequently blacklisted in Hollywood.
