Norma Shearer was awarded the Academy Award for Best Actress for the 1929-30 season at a ceremony held in November 1930. At the ceremony she wore this double diamond bracelet ensemble, the portrait used to promote her starring role in A Free Soul, for which she would also be Academy Award nominated.

Hurrell’s embossed stamp appears in lower right blank white margin. His ink stamp is on verso along with “Norma Shearer, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer”. Hand numbered in pencil 9195.
